After all, you are not on the cooking website, and I have not started to share cooking recipes yet. Well! In most parts of the world rice is thought only for food, but can you imagine that rice water or rice flour can have lots of beauty benefits. In many countries like China, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries uses rice not only for eating purpose but they also use rice water for perfect skin and silky hair.

Let’s first talk about some basics before moving towards the benefits of rice flour or rice water.

What is Rice Water?

It is leftover. When after washing rice or after boiling it for eating, the leftover water is considered rice water. Remember, it’s not dirty water. But unusually, this leftover has lots of benefits either use it in concentrated, diluted, or fermented form.

Rice water benefits

Rice water for skin: Rice water moisturizes the skin, and it has antioxidant which prevents age-related spots, improves blood circulation and gives you clear skin. It has a cooling and soothing effect which cools the temperature of your skin and prevents wrinkles. Rice water as a toner leaves skin smooth and radiant. Rice water also helps in skin irritation generally caused by sodium laurel sulphate (also present in the very famous product Cetaphil)  It also protects from the sun. Ways of making rice water
Rice water can be made simple, or it can be fermented for more benefits. When rice water is left for sometimes, and it becomes sour it is fermented rice water. Fermented rice water has antioxidants, minerals, Vitamins B and E. By continuous use it will shrink pores, helps in the reduction of fine lines and tighten the skin.

First, wash rice with clean water to removes any impurities and soak it in water for 20 to 30 minutes. After that, strain the water in a separate bowl and use it for a rinse. For fermented water leave it for 24 hours and then use it.

Method Two
Take 2 cups of rice
Take 4 cups of water
Boil rice and strain the water in a bowl.

NOTE: if the water is too saturated, dilute it with plain water.

For skin, fill it in a bottle and keep it in a fridge. Spray your face every day in the morning and in the evening. It can be stored for one week.

For hair use it as the last rinse. After washing your hair, apply rice water on the hair and leave it for 5 minutes. Wash it plain water.
